The Invisible Man

For the benefit of all those Birchington residents hoping to hear from Cllr John Worrow at this evening's meeting at the village community centre, I've just been informed that he has now sent his apologies as a more pressing engagement calls.

Where he may be going remains a mystery but suggestions I have received in the last ten minutes include an 'unexpected but urgent diversity conference' and that 'he's not allowed to leave his home until he has tidied his room.' I'm sure more will follow as there are some very disappointed people out there who appear to expect him, as a ward and parish councillor, to turn-up at a public meeting which has been scheduled for weeks.

Late Newsflash:

The BBC are reporting that: "Thanet councillor John Warrow fears a 'hate campaign" and may, this evening, be in hiding, having made a formal complaint to the police.

"Mr Warrow said: "I fear that it could be part of very nasty homophobic hate campaign against me."

Presumably apologies from Messrs Cohen and La Roche will follow. Not a pair between the three of them!

Monday night is Cubs night?

He's got a detention and won't be home in time to have his tea before the meeting?

Maybe just scared to face his public. After all, even someone that thick skinned must be starting to get the message that the Conservative voters of Birchington don't really think he is lovely.

So presumably he won't be turning up to any parish council meetings ever again in case those nasty homophobes, for which Birchington is famous, are lurking in the shadows to shout rude words at him. And hopefully this also means he won't be putting himself up for re-election in 2015 is case they come to any of his public meetings.
So that's his excuse. How will Messrs Cohen and La Roche avoid being shouted at? Presumably neither can use the homophobe card.

Well, what a surprise. I see the BBC still can't spell his name. You really couldn't make this stuff up!

I've just read the BBC report. If his allegations are true then this is reprehensible; there is no excuse for such behaviour. If it is not true then he needs to feel the full weight of the law for wasting police time.
Or maybe it's just an excuse...........

What a load of self-interested old tosh.

Mmmm... if only it was possible to recall his election and have another vote.

You have to give him this though... of all the slimy politicos you've ever had the misfortune to stumble across he sure has some clout to get his latest "I've been targeted for assasination by right wing anti-Gay marriage hitmen" onto the BBC News pages!

Dear Worrow, please resign.

If Mr Worrow has had threats or abusive messages left on his answerphone this is a very serious criminal matter and whoever did it must be prosecuted. This is not a laughing matter. Julian Brazier and Roger Gales recent homophobic comments in relation to Equal Marriage are likley to have prompted this.

7.41 appears to have information not available to the BBC. Quite why Roger Gale or Julian Brazier are involved requires a little further imagination!

Think the big word there @ 7:41 is IF.

Or it could just be he's running scared of being found out to be lacking in the "Doing things to benefit the people who voted for you in the first place" department.

A quick note to Simon Moores - at the parish council meeting it was suggested that you yourself had somehow added to the TIG site!

All I have done is recover what they dumped... There's a lot more which still has to go back up.

I think we should hear him out. He thinks he recognises the voice so this should be completed pretty quickly one way or another.

Oh please - no one evens cares about him to waste their time on. Why should anyone trust what Worrow says - it' s just as likely to be his own voice. If he finds it gets too hot in the kitchen resign and just get out - most people would say IF this is true it isn't worth it, just back out.

As a member of the public at the meeting tonight i was disgusted that councillor Cohen didn't have the decency to apologise for the disgusting post on the TIGS site last week. All he had to say, was that he had no knowledge of this, even when councillor Bruce pointed out that Cohen's picture is on the home page as a member of the group. In reply, all Cohen could do was mumble that his picture has been on your site Simon as well - he didn't seem to get that on one, he is one of the ''responsible' party members on the other, he's just a joke!

Julie - that was just the rambling of sober Jack. As he apparantly knows nothing about blog sites how would he know about them being hijacked?

James is right. We have to let the police investigation take its course. This should be a relatively quick process and should result in charges being laid. However, a little bit of me does marvel at the timing of this homophobic call - immediately prior to a difficult public meeting.
Julie, did the other two TIGs turn up last night?

Chris Wells said...

James is correct. No comment is the only sensible course when the police are involved.

That said, I have family members who work variously in the police, army, and social services who face physically real threats of violence quite regularly. The coverage given to this by the BBC is interesting in that context if no other.

Worrow's non appearance last night at Parish Council was fully expected, however he has to appear at some time and questions due to be raised last night will be asked when he eventually appears. The most serious of whichis the betrayal of Conservative voters especially after last Thursdays TDC Council meeting where he Cohen and Driver voted on every issue in support of Labour , in order to secure key Chairmanship positions, and also a 3.5% allowance increase
The day of reckoning is nigh.

In regard to the so-called 'Webmaster' David Fox. records show only one person of that name living in Thanet. In Ramsgate.

Maybe someone can have a chat and get his side of the story?

Anonymous said...

So you know and trust someone, but don't have any contact details? As my dear old grandmother used to say ' and the band played...believe it if you like'.

Anonymous said...

Tim Clark - of the three TIGs only Cohen was there, denying everything. No Driver, no Worrow. I can't wait to see the Gazette article on Friday!

It is very sad that Cllr Cohen, after a long and sometimes diverse political career has to end it all in this way. For someone who, in the past, has enjoyed respect from his voters, to ally himself to the likes of Worrow and Driver and be dragged into a quagmire like this, it is a great shame. He will be remembered for this mess and not for some of the good things he achieved over the years. I can confirm, having known sobre Jack for some years, he is NOT particularly computer literate and wouldn't understand how a web site works. Shame on Worrow for wrecking the reputation of an otherwise gentleman.
